Official "Big Rain Day" strikes

Well, it's been almost a year ...

But finally we got another "Big Rain Day."

History of Big Rain Days
in south Florida

Actually, make that three.

Official definition: A Big Rain Day is any day that an average of an inch or greater is recorded across all of south Florida.  For that to happen requires a lot of rain to fall everywhere.  Thus the name: Big Rain Day (BRD).

On average we get about five BRDs per year.

And on average, seven percent of them occur in May.

Monthly distribution of
Big Rain Days

So to get three in May is a big deal,

Especially after such a deep drought.
