Where swamp meets river

New culverts and plugs aren't the goal ...

They are a means to an ends.

The true test of success will be getting the water where it belongs:

Out of the canals and back in the natural waterways of the swamp.

Here's a closer look

Or in this case the Turner River.

The photo above is at the river's upstream end where it meets the swamp.

Here's a look the other way,
underneath the giant cypress
looking downstream

With the help of those culverts ...

Those big trees will be sending more water the river's way.
