Extreme shift (from one year to the next)

Last year we had a "very wet" dry season.

This year is on track to be just the opposite: "very dry."

History of dry season rainfall
for the Big Cypress, 1970 to present

By dry season I mean the 6-month span from November 1st through April 30th.  May is often our driest month, but rainfall wise -- towards its end -- is also when the rainy season (usually) starts.  Last dry season we had over 20 inches of rain.  This year (with one month to go) under 5 inches.

Or in other words, very dry.
