Pond apple proof

Waters eventually did drop this spring,

But everywhere the water's still up.

This chart shows the duration of time (in months) that the pond apple forest go dry in Big Cypress Nat'l Preserve.  Last year, the pond apple dry down lasted a little over two months.  On record drought years (2001 and 2011) the dry down was four months.

There's no better proof of that ...

Than in the swamp's deepest spots.

The trend has been for the swamp's pond apple forests to go dry a month or more each spring.  This year it appears we'll be entering into summer with the pond apple roots still flooded with a foot or so of water.

Meant to post some follow up photos of pond apple forest, among the most scenic spots in the swamp.
