Not on the same wavelength

El Niño winters are supposed to be colder than usual.

This one has been quite the opposite (so far).

This chart shows day and nighttime
temperatures across the East Coast

Nights should regularly
be in the 50s by now

A meteorologist explained to me that winter Jet Stream is usually a full wavelength across the United States.  By that he meant when the Jet Stream is making a valley out West (i.e. thus bringing in cold air from the north), it's making a hill (i.e. thus allowing tropical air to invade) in the East.

That being said, even he seemed perplexed.

Always good to have a working theory in the mix.
