In it's place evapotranspiration is kicking in.
|This hydrograph shows the rise and fall of water levels in Big Cypress National Preserve from 2010 to present. The big news in the swamp is that the center of the domes are now mostly waterless, even if the peat within is still moist.|
That combination suddenly has the water table below the center of the cypress domes and just a half foot from our average annual low water mark. Don't forget it's not even the beginning of April.
Usually the water table doesn't bottom out until early May.
