Winter dry season means lots of sun and dry air, right?
Not in the case of the dreaded stalled front.
Animation of the dreaded stalled front
Cold fronts that pass clear through the southern bottom of the peninsula are praised for the cool air they bring. Stationary fronts on the other hand stop just short of passing free and clear south of the peninsula, often bringing with them a fine, misting rain.
Skies turn leaden and humid air takes hold.
Note to the Polar Weather Service:
Put a little more juice on the next cold front, please!
