Sponge effect

The meteorologic wet season starts like a flip of the switch ...

But fully saturating the Everglades takes time to unfold.

Yes, the summer rains have started,
but water doesn't peak in the Everglades
until early fall

A wild lands fire fighter cornered me in the hall.

"Hey, I though you said the wet season starts in late May? We've been busier than ever tending to lightning strikes the past couple of weeks."

I forgot to explain that June is soaking in season.
