Fallacies of the swamp

Some people think of the swamp ...

As always being very wet.

The swamp is in constant
(slow) motion

But except for a few deep spots, surface water in the swamp is shallow. For portions of the year there can be little or no water at all. Compare that to a deep lake up north where you can walk around the bank.

When the swamp gets really wet, it has no banks at all (despite still being shallow.)

Did I mention the swamp has a Deep Lake?

It's deeper than Lake Okeechobee.

Five times deeper.

What is the name of the lake?

Somewhat appropriately, its actually named Deep Lake. You can find it on a map by the jog in the road on State Road 29, about 9 miles north of the Tamiami Trail.
