Full hydrograph of Red River

The hydrograph on top shows the full annual cycle for the Red River, as measured by the USGS at Fargo, North Dakota.  The annual peak is always in Spring (usually around April), although variable depending on the amount of snow pack and how quickly it melts.  The bar chart on the bottom shows the annual volume of water discharged in the Red River, from 1970 to present. Amazingly, three of the biggest flood years on record occurred back to back to back.
