Anatomy of a drought

This chart gives a glimpse of how this winter's drought -- using weekly-aggregated rainfall totals for Big Cypress Nat'l Preserve -- stacks up against the past couple years.  With evapotranspiration heating up and water levels down, now is an particularly important time to get a heavy spring rain event (or two) to tide us over to the start of the summer rainy season.  The good news is that forecasters are calling for a 70 percent chance of rain Thursday night and Friday.
