"Where'd the water table go?"

It doesn't sound like much ...

But the water table has now dropped 10 inches from its October peak.

A 10-inch drop in the water table may not sound like much,
but in the case of the swamp, it's caused a couple
habitat types (pines and marl prairie) to go dry.

From this point forward, we can expect the tall cypress and then the pond apple and marsh to go dry.  By April and May we could see the dry water refugia pools drying up, too. For now, there's still water in the swamp ...

But more and more you have to go hunting into the tall trees to find it.
