Meteorologic "ups and downs"

Rain in south Florida is seasonally distinct:

Summers are wet and winters are dry.

South Florida is a land
of meteorologic extremes
But summers get a boost when they get a Big Rain Month (i.e. > 9 inches) and dry seasons make a swoon when multiple (or consecutive) drought months (i.e. < 1 inch) strike. The bar chart above shows monthly rain across south Florida from 2005 to present.

June 2005 and Winter 2009 jump out as extremes in particular in my mind.
