A Big Rain Day is any day in which all of south Florida averages one or more inches of rain across the entire south peninsula, as measured by the South Florida Water Management District. Big Rain Days are usually not uniform across the entire peninsula. For example, the Kissimmee and Lake Okeechobee may record multiple inches while to the south in the Big Cypress little to no rain may occur, or vice versa. No two Big Rain Days are alike in their geographic distribution, or not usually. The photograph above shows the winterdry season norm -- a Big Evapotranspiration Day.
