Drought with long half life

The working assumption was that this year's spring drought was "shorter and shallower" compared to last springs deep and extended fire-strewn drop.

In Okaloacoochee Slough, that situation appears to be reversed.

This hydrograph is emblematic
of the unusually low August water levels
plaguing OK Slough, Picayune and Corkscrew

This spring didn't see fire ...

But here we are mid summer and we have barely seen any water, too.

Faltering local rains seem to be to blame.

It doesn't help that the headwaters are dry, too.
