Swamp seasons run amuck

To the uninitiated, south Florida has two meteorological halves:

The summer wet season and the winter dry season.

We are currently at the point
where the tall cypress are wet
but most of the marl prairies are dry.

But that doesn't account for water soaking and filling up for the summer's first half or for water hanging around for months after the sky has turned dry. A month into the dry season is often wetter than a month into the wet.

I call that the hydrologic lag effect.
