Winter's unexpected last sigh?

End of April is usually the beginning of summer ...

Then how is that winter-like weather has returned?

Warm in the sun and cool in the shade:
This last dose of crisp weather sure felt good!

By winter weather I mean daytime highs in the 70s and nighttime lows in the 50s. One of the things we love about dry season rain events, i.e. fronts, is that they usually flood the peninsula with a freshet of deliciously crisp continental air in the days (and nights) that follow.

Those fronts were on short supply this winter.

The above graphs shows the daily daytime high and nighttime low for Naples, Florida.  Background gray-scale coding shows the average and record daytime high and nighttime low.  Our most recent bought of crisp air was an unexpected surprise.  Usually by late April nighttime lows are trending toward the high 60s, not the low 50s.  Synthesis:  Enjoy it while it lasts.  The "hot and humid" season is nearing soon!

That's why it feels so good to get one so late.

Enjoy it while it lasts because the "hot and humid" season is almost here!
