Hotlanta and cool Naples?

One thing we can agree on is that we had a long February, or at least by my calculations one day more than usual, but was it colder, too?

To answer that it depends on where you live.

Map shows average daytime high and nighttime low
for the month of February

For example, Naples averaged a daytime high of 79º F and a nighttime low of 62º F for the leap-year lengthened twenty-nine days of February. Looking at the map above, you will see that that means Naples average nighttime low for February was actually warmer than Atlanta's daytime high over the same period.

That's a comparison that really cools Hotlanta down.

Of course if you live in Fargo, ND or even the mid Atlantic Coast's Baltimore, the same cross comparison makes Atlanta seem, if not balmy, then at least somewhat mild ...

Probably T-Shirt weather.

Batten down the hatches:
It's winter in Naples, Fla!

The bitterest wind that's blown through Naples, Florida this year has been a high-decibel complaint among the recent arrive-es that our winter has been too warm.

Not today: The daytime high won't even break 75º F.

That has me hunkering down in my winter fleece!
