But I couldn't help noticing that South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) is winning the race. It has received the most rain over the past year.
Rain year by district (to date)
May 1, 2011 - April 30, 2012
Keep in mind that I began my tabulation effective May 1st, 2011.
That starting point allows me to split the year into distinct 6-month wet and dry halves, May through October being the wet season and November through April the dry season.
In south Florida that works really well.
But up on the panhandle the summer is drier and the winter is rainier.
Most recent summer wet season
May 1, 2011 - Oct 31, 2011
Current winter dry season
Nov 1, 2011 - Apr 31, 2012
The result is it could be a closer race than it now looks.
The finish line is April 30th.
Not that I'm competitive.
