Causes and effects

High ground is pine land and low ground is cypress in the swamp, right?

North of alligator alley depressional marshes proliferate instead.

Why is it that some circular depressions fill in with the characteristic parabolic "hill-shaped" canopy of cypress and others stay open instead I'm still not sure.

Could cap rock depth, seed source or fire frequency be the cause?

More than likely its a combination of multiple factors:

The swamp isn't as simple as a single cause and effect.
