A wet, marl and dry prairie?

A slough is sort of like a "wet" prairie ...

in that it's submerged for most of the year.

Although usually the term "wet prairie" in south Florida means its made of "marl" soil instead, not peat, which at this point (in the winter) most of the ones you find in the Big Cypress Swamp are "dry" instead.

The video above sort of explains.

I enjoy your videos and envy you your opportunities for 'bird's eye views'.
re: waxwings - apparently they arrive in droves if there has been a good breeding season though poor berry crops in autumn may force them away in greater numbers. Clear as mud, eh?
