That’s a bit of a stretch for Naples Florida since it never – or rarely – freezes in the first place, and when it does, it’s just for a few hours in the waning hours before dawn.
By thaw I meant warming.

Average daily lows and highs are on the upswing.
Here in Naples temperatures bottom out in mid January with an average daytime high of 75º F and nighttime low of 53º F.
They’re seeing the same warming trend “up north,” case in point being Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (see graph).
The only difference is that Pittsburgh is still frozen.
Average night time lows are in the mid 20s. The good news is that average daytime highs have risen 10 degrees over the past month. They’re now in the mid 40s.
Compare that to Naples two coldest days of the year – January 21st and February 5th. You know it’s a rare day in Naples when daytime highs never make it above 60º F. In this case it was close: 56º and 58º F respectively.
You can see that if you click into the historical calendar graph below.

On one of those days I was out at Picayune Strand – braving the cold. That’s where I took the photo below. It used to be a man-made channel called Prairie Canal, but now it's been transformed into a series of ponds to put water back into the adjacent wetlands.
As cold as it was, it never froze (not even close).
Up in Pittsburgh, they're still waiting on their ponds to thaw.

Not much trend going on here yet, but we're hoping!
You have got to be on the Florida Chamber of Commerce board. Pretty sure you aren't on the Pittsburgh CC board.
Enjoy your warmth. I do envy you now, not so much this summer.
I was in S. FL during the Jan 22 cold snap. It still amazes me by what they were growing around the Homestead area. To see those fields of bananas, papayas, mangoes, sweet corn, etc etc...all the flowers and then too know it was a frozen wasteland at home in Wisconsin. I didn't want to leave!
It was 91F in Tucson, AZ yesterday :) First 90F+ this year.
Your blog is very interesting. The information are so useful. Our temperature and weather are very safe and boring...lol. Like the video in your previous post.
It's nice to know we're in a warming trend now. Why do I feel so cold?
Thanks for your comments.
Deborah- Be patient, in the dog days of summer you'll be missing winter doldrums (ok, maybe not).
Patti- I have friends that take great pride in PA weather -- something about it "building character," ... but they are the same ones that can't wait for their holiday sojourn the the sunshine state come winter.
Johnathan- That's incredible about Tucson, ... and yes, what you saw was the winter fruit basket to the nation's winter dinner tables and lunch pales.
Alice- Our summer weather is like that: almost every day is the same temperature wise.
George- Print out the web page posting on a piece of paper, and burn it in your fireplace: I guarantee it will give off heat!
Everybody's seems like waiting for spring. who doesn't? I am too even when I don't have those 4 seasons in Malaysia. But the excitement crawls inside me and I'm excitedly waiting for spring.Be Beautiful
Here in my part of WV I think we will finally be thawed out by tomorrow - at least for now. :)
Love the perspective on your shot.
My post is at Carletta’s Captures.
Your neck of the woods sure is different from ours here in NW Montana. Our days are warmer with rain instead of snow and melting everywhere. Spring knocks on winters door!
That's a great shot. I always think it's so interesing how different the weather can be in different places.
"Braving the cold" ... we laughed.
