Cloud shadow

We've had our fair share of clouds this dry season.

It's just the rain-producing variety that we've been missing ...

As if we're trapped in a rain shadow.

Ha, Bob... We used to laugh in 2007 when we were in a horrible drought here, and say that there was a HUGE umbrella over our area (kinda like the rain shadow you have)..

We got so frustrated since the rain seemed to go all around us--but would miss us!!! That umbrella was opened up there for a LONG time. Ha HA

Those are great pictures of the clouds. It's just too bad that they are not bringing any rain.

All those clouds are travelling north and dumping on us! We had a few years of drought so the last wet year has been welcome.

I guess color is no indication, then, because it susre looks like you ought to be able to wring some rain out of that cloud!

Thanks for your comments.

It's good to know it's raining somewhere. And yes, dust is accumulating on our umbrellas, other than the giant baby blue one up in the sky that is blocking all our rain ... but not the sun!

Your photos are wonderful and I enjoyed looking at the graph and the rain map. Put everything more in perspective somehow. I hope you get that much needed rain sometime, not too much but just enough :)

You really do put a lot of effort and info onto these posts. Love the soft billowy sky.

We got caught in the same pattern as Betsy back in 2007. Worst drought on record for the entire state of NC. It was beginning to get pretty scary actually. And we're still at a deficit, but the reservoirs are full again at least.

Great shots! I love seeing pics of the sky, it seems one never can get enough - it is so calming and yet so powerful when the clouds are aligned just right!

Great photos! We had a very dry year last year, too. Hope it improves this year. These clouds are beautiful, even is not water laden.
